brown rice syrup (BRS) is a wonderful substitute for plain old refined sugar. As its name implies, is made with brown rice, therefore, is considered a complex carbohydrate, generally accepted as a better sweetener than refined sugar is a simple sugar. It also has a glycemic index lower than regular sugar, which is ideal for diabetics or anyone seeking a healthier alternative to refined sugar.

brown rice syrup is similar in appearance, texture and taste of honey. Even smells a bit like honey. Some say BRS has a store, candy-like flavor, but I think we will be eating everything you know candy! Although it tastes like honey, in my opinion, does not alter the taste of my recipes. Feel free to use in recipes wherever sugar is used regular.

Substituting brown rice syrup for sugar can be a challenge because it is a granular and the other is a liquid, and BRS is only half as sweet refined sugar, but can be done successfully. Just remember a series of important tips BRS using the few instead of regular sugar.

BRS is not as sweet as sugar, so you need to use about 1 and 1 / 3 cup of BRS to 1 cup sugar.

BRS is a liquid, so it will to reduce the other liquids in your recipe. Reduce other liquids by about 1 / 4 cup per 1 cup of BRS.

For reasons beyond my scientific knowledge, is a good idea to include 1 / 4 teaspoon baking soda 1 cup brown rice syrup.

I made a chocolate mousse with rice syrup, and texture was heavenly. I think refined sugar have been the sand mousse, but the BRS gave the mousse a smooth texture, rich. In some cases, a liquid form of sugar is preferred and BRS is the perfect solution.

As you can see, has a little planning and adjust the use of brown rice syrup in their current recipes, but its benefits health really worth the effort.

Refined sugar is terrible for your body, so why not try this wonderful alternative.

Sugar is great – if it’s not refined. Better sugars do exist and it’s easy and painless to incorporate them into your life.
