feed a dog with canine kidney disease?
my basset baby that is not quite 2 years old, was diagnosed with kidney disease. this was a blow to me and that shows no signs of kidney failure. the vet has recommended a low protein diet – Veterinary Formula hills to be exact, I'm not a fan. just wondering if anyone out there has gone through this with your furkan. I'm looking for alternatives to feed, even if it's something I have to shake it. I removed the normal meal and have been preserved foods, raw diet, mix yogurt and water him twice a day. Am open to all kinds of herbal remedies – because the dog food I was feeding my two dogs was a mixture holilistic. Hills diet that is recommended by the veterinarian containing 6% protein – does not look much of nutrition for me. Does anyone know when the lab results tilted renal failure may be the sign for something else. I am looking for a second opinion only to be on the safe side, but meanwhile I have to be able to feed my dog
Ambertech have a product called Kidney Rejuvenator which herbs to help renal function. http://www.ambertech.com/kr.php An adequate diet for dogs with kidney can not be prepared at home by adding a half cup ground chicken breast or two large crushed boiled eggs hard (without shell) to four cups of mashed potatoes or four cups of cooked brown rice. 30 ml (two tablespoons) canola oil, a quarter of Centrum tablets, 100 IU of vitamin E and 500 mg of absorbable calcium from any human calcium supplement, which is free of phosphorus the label. Vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol acetate is known to slow the aging process by eliminating free radicals).
