There is certainly a big trend towards raw food diets right now, with more and more people learn from it and start your raw journey. But … Is right for you? What are the benefits? Are there any drawbacks or challenges?
These are some of the questions unanswered in this article.
First, let's be clear about what a raw food diet. Well, that's exactly what it says on the tin, and eating raw. It means avoiding all foods processed, eating only natural whole foods, not cooking and avoid unpasteurized foods and roasted (as pasteurized milk products, unpasteurized fruit juices and roasted nuts and seeds). A food is considered raw if it has not been exposed to heat above 118f and destroys the enzymes and nutrients in foods such temperatures. Essentially, a diet is classified as premium, if 75-100% of the food consumed is raw. It is also very typical for those who follow a diet and for adopting a new diet and lifestyle habits that are designed to improve the health and welfare.
There is also great variation in how raw and principles are applied in the types of foods consumed. Some are very strict about feeding raw food 100% of the time, others less. Some variations and ideas that exist in raw foodism include;
- V No Dairy Milk
- V No Grains Grains
- V No Pulses Pulses
- Superfoods
- Juice
