These are just some of the many undesirable side effects and potentially dangerous antidepressants commonly described. In addition, Standard antidepressants such as Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft have recently been linked to serious risks, including suicide, violence, psychosis, brain tumors, and abnormal bleeding. However, with approximately 18.8 million American adults affected by depression disorders each year, many people turn to drugs control their symptoms. [1]

With these discouraging data, people are increasingly more alternative treatments for depression. Some other popular choices include acupuncture, herbs, supplements, massage, exercise and craniosacral therapy. However, one of the highest and by far the easiest and most available is the use food for depression! He who seeks to cure can be as simple as making some dietary adjustments.
Many people remain fully aware of mood to boost our natural foods. Before discovering what these foods are healing, see how they work. Antidepressant drugs work to increase levels of serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is the "feel good" neurotransmitter that is essential to balance mood and behavior, and imbalances can lead to conditions such as depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, seasonal affective disorder (SAD), and hyperactivity. The interesting news is that serotonin levels can be increased naturally by simply adding to foods rich in tryptophan, the precursor of serotonin!
Tryptophan
Tryptophan is one of the 10 essential amino acids. It is well known for its ability to elevate serotonin levels. Indications one may need more foods rich in tryptophan in the diet include depression, anxiety, irritability, inability to concentrate, weight gain, cravings carbohydrates, or insomnia.
Common food sources of tryptophan include bananas, avocados, cacao, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, legumes, red meat, turkey and dairy products. However, as this delicate amino acid is denatured by heat (as in the kitchen), these food should be consumed in their raw uncooked state to obtain the maximum benefit. As it is not advisable to consume raw or unpasteurized dairy products, the best dietary sources of tryptophan are fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, which are safe to eat in abundance in its natural state. The great advantage of obtaining tryptophan from these sources also contain other nutrients that are essential for the metabolism of tryptophan. These include vitamin B6, vitamin C, folic acid and magnesium.
Omega-3 fatty acids

3 frozen bananas, 3 / 4 cup vanilla hemp milk, 1-2 tablespoons raw cocoa powder or powdered carob, ½ cup nuts in India, small piece of vanilla bean (optional), 1 tablespoon honey

2 cups shredded green cabbage, diced ½ avocado, diced apple ½ cup ¼ cup raisins, 2 tablespoons hemp seed, 2 tablespoons hemp oil, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, sea salt to taste. If you like sweet, add 1 tablespoon of honey or chopped dates.
Mix all ingredients in a bowl and dig in.
Scrumptious Cinnamon Raisin "Avena"
3 fresh ripe banana, ¾ cup of uncooked oatmeal, 2 tablespoons flax seeds, ½ cup walnuts, raisins ¼ cup cinnamon taste
Soak two tablespoons of flax seeds in water for 1 hour. Mix with 2 bananas and 1 tablespoon raisins. Mix in oats and raisins and remaining cinnamon.
